HAMAJI, meaning Nomad in coastal Swahili, is an ethical bohemian designer label created around preserving ancient textile traditions and Nomadic craftsmanship while empowering and supporting local small scale artisans in Africa.

Born in Kenya in 2017 by designer Louise Neoma Sommerlattte, Hamaji focuses on supporting local artisan families with a particular focus on empowering women in Kenya.  Each piece is crafted with care in a workshop situated on the foothills of Mount Kenya.

Hamaji also takes pride in the materials that they source: upcycled vintage materials, sustainably sourced natural fibres and textiles coming from spice markets and desert festivals in North Africa.

Each Hamaji piece is a treasure to the owner, bringing the Kenyan culture through a symphony of wandering threads with their own nomadic story and heritage.
